Art is a journey that evolves with every brushstroke, every new idea, and every exhibition. Today, I want to share the latest developments in my art practice and inform you where you can experience my work in person. Whether you are a longtime follower or new to my page, this update will give you a clear picture of what I have been working on and how you can connect with my art.
Recent Developments in My Art Practice
Over the past year, my focus has shifted toward exploring new materials and techniques that challenge traditional boundaries. I have been experimenting with mixed media, combining painting mediums that shouldn't really be used together and it has really helped to broaden my practice. This approach allows me to express a more experimental facet to my work, I have developed a looser style over the last year and enjoy pushing myself further and further in this direction.
In addition to material experimentation, I have been developing a new colour palette inspired by natural landscapes. The colours range from muted earth tones to vibrant bursts of bright colour, creating contrasts that evoke both calm and tension. This palette is evident in my latest paintings, which explore the tension between organic forms and abstract painting.
Upcoming Exhibition and Where to See My Work
I am excited to announce an upcoming exhibition where my latest pieces will be on display. These events offer a great opportunity to experience the work first hand and engage with other art works that may be of interest.
Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour
Location: The Royal Scottish Academy Building
Private View: 14th February 2026, 6pm to 8pm
Exhibition Open To Public: 15th February to 11th March 2026, 10am to 5pm daily
This group exhibition features emerging artists and professional artists working with water based media. My contribution includes these two paintings.

'The Blue Deepens'
This Painting was completed when on a trip to Skye and the Inner Hebrides, the intense drama and weather fronts that I experienced gave rise to a painting full of dark brooding colour. This was one of many small paintings done on location, I am always drawn to the more subtle and transient atmospheres that you see especially in the Hebrides. As I love to focus on the connection between earth and sky and how the two merge and coalesce.

'September Song'
September Song is a painting completed after a trip to the Isle of Mull in the Autumn, where the soft light danced on the landscape interspersed with the Autumn mists. My work revolves around the simplicity of marks and how to achieve relevance through as little intervention as possible to create a feeling of atmosphere and colour of the season. Expressive, spontaneous marks build texture and movement, allowing the viewer to feel the changing atmosphere and the fleeting beauty of the season, blending abstraction and emotion in a harmonious celebration of autumn. I regularly update my website and instagram page with high-quality images and detailed descriptions of my work.
