My New Studio

Well 2026 so far has been a very interesting year creatively, having recently had a small studio built to replace an older rotten version has taken up a lot of time and has made painting a little slow and also having some health issues has really made an impact on my art. I've been concentrating on working small perhaps only even making a few marks a day, but somehow it helps me to keep connected with with my desire to keep on working.
My new art space is moving forward but just not ready to put everything back in yet so hopefully in the next few months that will change and I can get back to working larger again. I have found this time beneficial as it is helping me to reflect on how to move forward in my art and what steps to take to get there. Do you often reflect on your work to help to guide you in future ideas? I would love to know what strategies you use to help you to move forward!
I also often think about the dilemma between trying to sell and exhibit work and the true pleasure of painting for its own sake and this year I have decided to concentrate on enjoying the artmaking without the added making work for exhibitions or for sale and enjoy the process! Is there anyone out there who feels the same?
