Summer and Art

Hello, I hope you are enjoying the recent good weather, it has really made an impact on creativity and giving time to my practice do you feel the same? There's always the feeling that I should be doing more but there are lots of other things at this time of year that seem to take precedence over my art.

Finding the space and time to think about this has led me to realise you don't need to push it - it will come back in it's own time. There are no rules that say we have to do something physical with our art everyday as we ARE working everyday, thinking about ideas, getting inspiration and thinking about our next steps. It won't stop the feeling of needing to get back to physically painting but really we should let ourselves appreciate what is around us and soak up experiences which will ultimately reflect in our art when we get back to it.

It is not as though this is a regular job it is something that reflects our experiences and how we connect with the world, it is something that is innate and needs to manifest itself somehow. If you are serious about your art is an intrinsic part of your existence, it's not about sharing with others its about improving your practice on a personal level. The sharing comes from wanting to connect with other creatives and share our experiences, this is my personal opinion and you may have a completely different take on it which I would love to know.

Do you feel this way? I would love to know how you see your art practice as it really is different for us all.
