Stormy Weather

Recent events on our news channels have got everyone thinking about the welfare of people in other countries and the devastation that is going on worldwide, it's no wonder art is taking a back seat in the grand scheme of things generally. I don't know about you but it makes me feel so privileged and grateful to be able to continue with my art making and to be able to survive each day without threat and fear.

This leads me onto the subject of art making and the influence that world events can have on your subconscious. I have found that my work is becoming increasingly wild and energetic, which when you reflect it seems the result of our uncertainty and helplessness that is currently happening.

Do you feel that your work is being influenced by the current situation of our planet? It could go one of two ways either make you feel that making art is unimportant and frivolous and stop you from creating, or it can be used as diversionary tactic and take our minds of the conflict. How relevant do you think art is at this time?

I know that is a lot of questions - it would be so great even if you could consider even one and let me know what you think. Here is my latest painting 90x90cm Oil on deep edge canvas that really made me think.
